A Mexican Classic, Called Two Ways

Lotería has been played in Mexican homes, fairs and plazas for generations. Each player gets a tabla, a game board with a grid of 16 colorful images like el sol, la luna, la sirena and el corazón. The caller, known as el cantor, draws cards from a deck of 54 and announces each one, often with a playful rhyme. When an image on your tabla is called, you mark it with a bean. Each round has its own winning pattern, like a straight line, the four corners or a full board. Complete it first, shout ¡Lotería!, and the round is yours.

Here’s the twist: every card is called in Spanish and English, so everyone can play, whatever language you speak.
